For weeks now, every Invictus Games-related social media post has been flooded with anti-Sussex carjamons accusing Prince Harry and Meghan of either benefiting from the games or attracting attention because of the games or disrespecting the Queen with the games. Invictus’s social media account even sent out a general statement urging the haters to calm down. My guess is that there is a kind of organized hate campaign to try to poison Invictus games where “everyone” will believe that there is something wrong with Invictus or something wrong with supporting Invictus. It’s weird. However, the Biden administration has announced their delegation to Invictus. I expected Dr. Jill Biden to lead the delegation, but no – Pete and Chasten Butigig are leading the American delegation:
U.S. officials say Transportation Secretary Pete Butigig will travel to the Netherlands this week to lead the president’s delegation to the Invictus Games, an international sports competition for injured seniors.
Butigig and her husband, Chasten Butigig, will be in The Hague for the event, which will also be attended by Prince Harry and his wife, Megan Merkel. The Secretary will attend the opening ceremony and address a welcome address for the US team.
Sen. Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill., And Deputy Veterans Affairs Secretary Donald Remy will join the U.S. delegation, along with Air Force Under-Secretary Gina Ortiz Jones and Rory Brosius, who runs the White House Joining Forces program to support the military family.
Duckworth, a captain in the Army National Guard, lost both his legs and part of his right hand when he was shot down by a helicopter in Iraq in 2004.
Butigig is expected to return to the United States after the games, which open on Saturday. He will make a transport-related stop in the Netherlands: officials say he will visit Rotterdam, Europe’s largest seaport in the North Sea.

I’m not trying to cause problems, but I’m really wondering why the First Lady isn’t going. Like Barack Obama, Bidens joined the Invictus Games in Toronto in 2017. And it was within their power as a former government official. The Trump administration sent Melania to the Toronto Games, remember? This seems like a significant fall in support of sending Secretary Butigig and her husband!
The good news is that the Ukrainian Invictus team has arrived in The Hague!
We are delighted to share Team Ukraine’s safe arrival before participating in the Invictus Games The Hague 2020.
They are training for the event as part of their recovery and are looking forward to being part of the Invictus community again in person. pic.twitter.com/yfRl4SPxXH
