I knew that the leadership of the Invictus Games would be uncomfortable in the British media, but for three years now, I have been consistently surprised by the utter despair of the British media. Desperate to insult the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, desperate to criticize every little thing they do, Harry and Meghan are desperate to provide up-to-the-minute “expert” commentary from the entire Randos on how they are blind-imitating the palace. Hall slaps the Queen in the face, how Harry and Meghan are completely femme fatale and liar. Whenever Harry and Megan literally do something, it’s really crazy to see the system ramp up to a fever pitch. Meghan can keep a dog and Surya’s live-blog will have ten pieces of expert commentary on how only sociopaths love dogs and how Harry should come to his senses and leave his dog-loving wife.
However, that was all I was venting into the emptiness. One of the concerns in the British media this week is “Will Prince Harry and Megan meet royal dignitaries when they travel to the Netherlands?” The Daily Mail runs less than two dozen sections on the security situation in Sussex (because the mail is actively persuading people to harm H&M). And now this: Will King Willem-Alexander “welcome” his royal guests? The answer is obviously not.
Harry and Meghan will not be given spectators with King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands during their Invictus Games tour, nor will they be given a room in the palace, but Dutch police may transfer their ‘VIP status’.
The couple may have to be protected by their own team when attending the event this weekend when they will be Meghan’s first trip to Europe since resigning as a senior member of the royal family more than two years ago.
It is understood that Harry and Meghan will not find visitors with King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima during their stay and will instead spend the night at a hotel in The Hague.
Traditionally, the Dutch royal family has arranged for members of the foreign royal family to stay, but a spokesman confirmed that no such olive branch would be extended to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
[From The Daily Mail]
I have seen it and there are several palaces / royal residences in The Hague, including the “working office” of King Willem-Alexander, the Nurdind Palace. Although I didn’t expect Harry and Meghan to stay in a Dutch palace like a hotel, I wondered if they would attend any kind of palace reception. Unlike the Duke and Duchess, Harry-As-Invictus-Founder. Don’t guess. I’m sure the media in Salt Island is happy with the idea that the king is “snatching” his guests, the guests who have just come to celebrate the elders. Sigh.
