In an interview with BBC News to promote his new memoir, he admitted that it was
“Incredibly harmful when people talk negatively about your work. How do you go from injury to failure? But you have to. Everything is not going to be a rewarding performance.”
He goes on
“Critics do not serve any purpose at all. And I’m not saying that to be nasty, either. They always think they are telling you something you don’t know. Somehow you are living a life where you are surrounded by people who lie to you and ‘I’m going to be the person who leans towards you and tells you the truth’, so it gives them a chance to be cruel to you. But in the end I think it’s my job as a leader to make bold choices. It is my duty to win or lose. ”
